Nokia 6265: A winning combination

Nokia 6265: A winning combination of technology and design
http://z.about.com/d/cellphones/1/0/S/W/nokia-6265-g.jpg
Nokia's most feature-rich CDMA phone to date, the Nokia 6265 packs an extra-large 240 x 320 pixel display, 2 megapixel camera with LED flash (effective resolution 1.92 megapixels), digital music player, Bluetooth wireless technology and miniSD card support into a compact sliding design that measures a mere 22 mm thin. When operated in camera mode, the Nokia 6265 is designed to be used horizontally, resulting in a more conventional photography experience. The Nokia 6265 includes 24MB of on board memory, and supports all available sizes of widely available miniSD cards, including 512MB and 1GB versions that can store hundreds of 2 megapixel images or digital music files

Music fans will enjoy the built in FM radio and digital music player which supports MP3, AAC and eAAC+ files, especially when paired with the optional wireless stereo headset. Integrated Bluetooth technology also allows the Nokia 6265 to be used with a long and growing list of compatible devices, including a wide selection of wireless headsets and car kits. The Nokia 6265 supports other forms of entertainment content, including 15 frame per second streaming video and downloadable BREW 3.1 or Java 3D applications - both of which are crisply rendered on the 262K color QVGA display.

Nokia 2255: Compact fold

Nokia 2255: Compact fold at a compact price
http://www.nokia-asia.com/NOKIA_ASIA_2/Get_Support/Product_Support/Support_for_Phones/2255_CDMA/2255_support.jpg
Nokia's latest fold-style CDMA model phone, the Nokia 2255 is engineered to deliver reliable wireless performance at an entry-level price point while not forgetting the importance of a compelling design and a strong feature set. The very compact Nokia 2255 includes a bright 128 x 128 pixel 64K color display with user selectable 'themes', downloadable MIDI ringtones and even an integrated FM radio.

For maximum productivity, the Nokia 2255 features business applications including a spreadsheet, calculator and currency converter and a handsfree speakerphone perfect for impromptu conference calls. Outside of work, three included games help to pass the time, while a built in flashlight can help to brighten up the dark of night.

The Nokia 2255 is the third handset from the latest announced yesterday at Nokia Connection 2005 to support CDMA technology. CDMA brings the mobile experience to hard-to-reach places and is vital especially in Australia's broad outback. Farmers in the extremities of our country have access to everything an inner-city mobile user would have access too thanks to CDMA. Nokia make the experience even more enjoyable by offering CDMA-supported handsets which have all the features you find in the GSM handsets.

The Nokia 2255 is a clam-shell entry-level CDMA handset, which if not for the external stub antenna would hardly look like a mobile phone at all. There is only one display on this CDMA model, the internal display. Sadly a LED indicator light did not make the Nokia 2255's cut either. You'll have to open the 2255 if you wish to find out if you have a message waiting, find out the time, battery status or any other indicator that usually an external display takes care of on a clam-shell.

That said, the internal display on the CDMA 2255 is definitely worth a mention, at 128 x 128 pixels it's not that big, but does aid in keeping the size of the handset down to a minimum. The display has support for 65,536 colours within the 128 x 128 pixel boundary. User selectable "themes" (as Nokia put it) come pre-installed.

Supporting 24-chord polyphonic ring tones, the Nokia 2255 has a dedicated speaker for just that. A hands free speakerphone is used for... guess! Hands free conversations of course. An integrated FM radio will keep you occupied - there are Java games too! Four come installed by default; Cricket, Soccer, Snake Xenziaand, and Stair Ball.

A set of business based applications are included to increase productivity of the 2255. Support for opening spreadsheets, a currency converter, and calculator applications are just some of these business applications, A set of PIM applications (organizer, etc) also come with the 2255. The phonebook has multi-entry capability and can hold up to 200 contacts.

The 970mAh battery keeps the 2255 handset up and running for around 7½ days standby time and ~3.5hours talk time on a single charge. At 83grams and 80.8 mm x 42.9 mm x 22.1 mm you won't even notice the 2255 in your pocket. The CDMA 1x 800MHz network is utilized by the 2255. We'll have the 2255 just in time for the end of the year.

Nokia 2125 Classic style

Nokia 2125: Classic style for the entry category
https://www.ferrit.co.nz/WebRoot/ExtImages/Shop0115/1f/4c/04/4c/Nokia2125_l.jpg
The entry-level Nokia 2125 features a compact design with metallic trim to accentuate its classically designed form. Only 21.5 mm thick and weighing in at 85 grams, the Nokia 2125 features a 64K color screen, handsfree speakerphone and an integrated flashlight -- an attractive balance of size, price and feature set.

The easy-to-use interface makes the Nokia 2125 perfect for first-time and prepaid users, who will also appreciate the three built-in games, user-changeable Xpress-on color covers and downloadable MIDI ring tone support. The Nokia 2125 also boasts a number of features unexpected on an entry level product such as voice dialing, voice commands and voice recording, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, and an extensive phonebook supporting multiple entries.

The Nokia 2125 features a brilliant 65k colour display, familiar user-friendly Nokia menu, built-in flashlight and hands-free speaker.

E90 The Communicator

http://gadgetmaniac.mail2web.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/nokia-e90-b.jpg
Nokia Communicator users and fans got used to always having to wait several years for a new model and always being slightly disappointed by the lack of some important features and reduced performance of new models compared to e.g. S60 smartphones announced/released at the same time. The 9210, the first Symbian OS based Communicator released in 2001, came with no GPRS and no Bluetooth, even though simple Nokia phones had both. 9210i and 9290 haven't changed much and we had to wait 3 years for the 9500 which finally delivered Bluetooth and GPRS/EDGE but (in 2004/2005!) still no UMTS, low-res camera and slow(ish) 150 MHz processor, compared to 220 MHz clocks of S60 smartphones (e.g. the 6630) announced at the same time... The 9300 and the 9300i provided improved WLAN connectivity but still the same processing speed and no UMTS support.

History often repeats itself.... but NOT THIS TIME! The E90 has almost everything you could dream of and provides the fastest processor currently used in Symbian OS smartphones and the largest operating memory (RAM) capacity ever used in a Symbian OS based device, with the recently announced UIQ3 based Sony Ericsson P1i being the only smartphone to offer the same amount of RAM. Yes, it's true, Nokia has finally created a Communicator that is as fast as other high-end Symbian OS devices and as powerful (and MORE functional) than high-end PocketPC Phone Edition devices! Read on.

Features
http://www.mygsmunlocking.com/catalog/images/Nokia-E90-communicator-review-3.jpg
The Nokia E90 Communicator is a workhorse. The brainpower behind the smartphone is provided by Symbian OS 9.2, Series 60 3rd Edition and comes packed with a host of applications for the business user. There's full support for viewing and editing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents thanks to the Quickoffice suite. The E90 also features the Nokia Team Suite, which we saw debut on the Nokia E65, and lets you create "teams" and define members, conference call numbers, conference call PINs, and Web pages.

Other utilities and PIM tools include Adobe Reader, a Zip Manager, a calendar, notes, a calculator, a clock, a voice recorder, and a currency converter. Of course, with the openness of the Symbian platform, you have access to a large library of third-party applications. There's Download Catalog on the device or you can check CNET Download.com for more titles. The Nokia E90 has 128MB of user-accessible memory, and the microSD expansion slot can accept up to 2GB cards.

As for e-mail capabilities, the Nokia E90 offers support for Microsoft Exchange Server, POP3, IMAP, and SMTP accounts, and a full attachment viewer. You can get real-time message delivery through a number of push e-mail solutions, including Intellisync Wireless E-mail, BlackBerry Connect, GoodLink, Visto, and Seven Always-On Mail. Nokia offers additional help to business users by including a mobile VPN client so that you can securely tap into your corporate server.

The E90's phone features include quad-band world roaming, a speakerphone, conference calling, speed dial, voice commands, and VoIP support. There's also text and multimedia messaging, and like the Nokia E61i, the smartphone has the text-to-speech reader that will read your messages aloud. The address book is limited only by the available memory, while the SIM card can hold an additional 250 contacts. Each entry has room for multiple numbers, an e-mail address, home and work addresses, a URL, and so forth. For caller ID purposes, you can pair a contact with a photo or a ringtone.

Wireless options on the E90 are plentiful, but it does disappoint in one area: it doesn't work on U.S. 3G bands. Unfortunately, it's only compatible with Europe's HSDPA/WCDMA 2100 band, but not our UMTS/HSDPA bands, so you're stuck with EDGE speeds. It's a true bummer for such a power-packed device. That said, there is integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) so you don't have to solely rely on GPRS/EDGE for surfing the Web. You also get Bluetooth 2.0 for connectivity to wireless mono and stereo headsets, hands-free kits, file transfer, and dial-up networking among other things. And if all that wireless goodness wasn't enough, the E90 has a built-in GPS radio, which, along with the preloaded Nokia Maps application, allows for real-time tracking, driving directions, and the like.

As a business-centric device, some may be sad to see that the Nokia E90 has a camera, given that a number of companies are banning the use of camera phones at workplaces for security reasons. But for better or worse, the smartphone comes equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, autofocus, and video-recording capabilities. In camera mode, you have a choice of various scenes and image qualities, and you can tweak the ISO, contrast, and color tones to get the best shot. User settings are a bit more limited in video mode, but you do have two scene modes (auto or night) and five choices in video quality.

Finally, the smartphone is equipped with a decent music player. It plays back MP3 and AAC files and can sort songs by artist, album, genre, or composer. You can also create playlists right on the device, set songs on random or repeat mode, and tweak the sound settings via the built-in equalizer. In addition, there's an FM radio, though you'll have to use the included wired headset since it acts as the FM tuner. For videos, RealPlayer is onboard and is compatible with MPEG-4, MP4, 3GP, RV, RA, AAC, AMR, and MIDI formats.

Performance
We tested the quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900; GPRS/EDGE) Nokia E90 Communicator in San Francisco using AT&T service, and call quality was good. We enjoyed crisp sound and good volume on our end, and had no problems interacting with an airline's voice-automated response system. Our callers also reported good results. The speakerphone presented more of a mixed bag. While our friends were impressed by the clarity, voices sounded a bit weak and hollow on our end. It wasn't anything that prevented us from having a conversation, but it will pose a challenge if you're trying to talk on the speakerphone in noisier environments. On the bright side, we had no problems pairing the E90 with the Logitech Mobile Traveller Bluetooth headset or the Motorola S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones.

Armed with a 330MHz Texas Instrument OMAP2420 processor, general performance was pretty swift. We did notice some lag when activating the camera and other multimedia applications, but we didn't experience any system crashes during our review period. Of course, the Web-browsing experience could have used the speed boosts from 3G support, but we were able to get by on EDGE. The device also had no problem finding and connecting to our Wi-Fi access point, and the E90 is equipped with an excellent Web browser. Multimedia performance could have been better. Music playback through the phone's speakers was weak and one-dimensional, though it's improved when you used the wired headset. Meanwhile, video clips looked pixilated and blurry, but it should be fine for short diversions.

The Nokia E90 is rated for 5.8 hours of talk time and up to 14 days of standby time. In our battery drain tests, we were able to get an impressive 11.5 hours of continuous talk time on a single charge. According to FCC radiation tests, the E90 has a digital SAR rating of 0.59 watt per kilogram.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco

Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition

The super stylish Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition comes in an elegant stainless steel body which is extremely user friendly. The handset has an exquisite design & comes with sensuous curves in the body of the casing which makes holding & using the handset a pleasure of the user. The handset has a signature thumb rest which adds to the sensuous curves of the casing & a hidden keypad which is easy to access. The mobile phone comes with a fluid slide opening mechanism which has been designed using a smooth ball bearing slide system. The Nokia 8800 comes in two colours which are silver or black which comes with a high quality glossy finish.

Introduction :

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition, as with the original 8800, looks very distinctive. It retains the smooth design and hefty price tag of all previous 8000-series devices, which have traditionally been Nokia's final step before having to move to the ultra-premium Vertu line of handsets. Whilst design is a very personal thing, evaluating the functions of the handset is more objective, and that is what we are trying to do today.

Features :

8800sirocco.jpg

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition is a minor update of the 8800 released a year ago. Apart from the camera, there has not been much else updated hardware-wise. The phone can be recognized from afar by the reflection of its stainless steel body. According to Nokia, the signature feature of the 8800 Sirocco Edition's design is the concave 'thumbprint' on the front of the handset. Not only does it look nice, but it also makes the phone a lot more ergonomic, as it is now easier to slide open. The body measures 107mm x 45mm x 17.5mm (4.21" x 1.77" x 0.69"), making it fairly compact. The 8800 Sirocco Edition weights in at 138g (4.87oz), making the handset disproportionately heavy for its size.

Ofcourse, some people like it heavy, saying that the handset feels solid and high-end to justify its price. Although the mirror surface is a fingerprint magnet, it is extremely scratch resistant compared to the Sony Ericsson Z610i. Nokia stressed that the glass in front of the screen is specially treated to withstand scratches.

Speciality :

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco comes with Bluetooth tec

hnology which allows the user to connect to any Bluetooth compatible device & enjoy a wire free connection between the two compatible devices. The phone comes with EDGE technology which provides the user with efficiently fast & effective data transfer which works approximately three times faster than GPRS. The phone comes with tri band technology which works over three network bands & will automatically switch between the networks without the user knowing.

The stainless steel case of the Sirocco Edition is treated in such a way as to give the device a unique sensual feel, which humanizes this natural masterpiece. Impeccable functionality is created through superlative craftsmanship, using techniques drawn from master watchmakers and jewelers. From the sapphire coating of the 262,000 color display to the distinctive slide mechanism which reveals its 2 mega-pixel camera, or even its extended battery life, every seemingly minor detail of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition is honed to perfection. The ergonomic keypad undulates like the glimmering dunes of the night desert, whilst the jewel-like navigation key shines like the brightest star in the darkest night. The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition truly is unique, created out of the inherent beauty and chaos of nature and distilled into a modern form that is graceful, sympathetic and spare.

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition also features a complementary Bluetooth headset. This diminutive but distinctive wireless earpiece is also composed of stainless steel, and perfectly matches the nature-inspired Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition.

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition is now available in select markets, with an estimated retail price of EUR 1000, before taxes or subsidies.

New Nokia 3608 Cell Phone

New Nokia 3608 Cell Phone

Today we spotted the new Nokia 3608c clamshell for the Chinese CDMA market, as well as a regular 3608 that is destined for unspecified parts of the world. While we are missing a few details and have only one photo, we did get this off of a public Nokia web server, so we have no doubt about the source of the information. We can also say with some certainty that this is a CDMA cell phone, not GSM, though we have no idea if it supports 3G EV-DO data like its dual-sliding brother, the 8208.

Key features of the 3608 include a 1.3 megapixel camera, dual color displays, and GPS support. It also comes equipped with external touch sensitive music keys, an FM radio, and support for microSD memory cards as large as 4GB in size. Bluetooth stereo support is also included, as is a speaker independent voice dialing application.

Nokia lists the 3608 as having a "Series 40 Nokia like UI", so it seems clear that this isn't really a S40 device in the traditional sense. It is also unclear whether the 3608 is made for Nokia by another company, such as has been done with Pantech in the past. In any event, the spec sheet claims that this fashionable clamshell cell phone will be capable of up to 3.5 hours of talk time or 11 days of standby time on a full battery charge.

No word on when the device will be announced officially or when it might be available for purchase.

Nokia nPhone

Nokia nPhoneIt is a great news for Nokia mobile users that Nokia will launch nPhone beside of iPhone. We've received exclusive news that Nokia have purchased iPhone brand today. Now it will be Nokia nPhone. In total for 1,5 billion dollars Nokia has got Apples iPhone TradeMark.

Almost all characteristics of phone will remain as announced: Multi-touch System, Intelligent Keyboard, Wireless, Built-in Advanced Sensors, but Nokia developers have made a decision to switch OS from
OS X to more Nokia native Symbian 9.1 OS. Sales of new nPhone are
expected on autumn of 2008 in US and in the beginning of 2009 in Europe and Asia."Be smart with new nPhone."

Holy cow - these fakes are getting pretty good. Look quickly and it’s tough to see that this is really labeled as an “NPhone”. It’s an overseas knock-off of the first generation iPhone. What I can’t figure out is that for the $200 they charge you could buy a genuine (and fully warranteed) 3G 8GB iPhone with software upgrade, ability to load App Store programs and best of all - guaranteed to work! I have no idea whether this will even sync to iTunes or hold a charge or cellular signal - but it might be fun to take into Apple’s Genius Bar and try to get them to service it.

Review Nokia E71

Review Nokia E71

Nokia E71: Smartphone with Smart Simplicity

The Nokia E71 is the successor of the popular Nokia E61 & E61i. Nokia had shrunken the E71 to just 57mm compare to E61i 70mm and trimmed it down to an amazingly 10mm thickness, an almost 4mm less thicker than E61i with 13.9mm

The display screen looks very sharp, which got narrower a bit at 2.36 inches (320×240 pixels) from 2.8″ with the E61. If there had to be a bit negative about Nokia E71, I say it’s going to be the keyboard, the QWERTY keyboard with the keys a little too crowded. However, it’s not bad at all since the keys more embossed so the user don’t easily hit neighboring keys. Another thing is that the number keys are at the center so you can easily type in single-handed. A fingernail-oriented user would feel more comfortable rather than thumb-oriented with the E71. The keys are enhanced by a nice back lighting which makes them very easy to read. The actual keys don’t actually light up but just the letters and symbols, which contribute to its clean and sexy exterior. Professional Design Trim and fitted with a full keyboard, Nokia E71 is impeccably tailored for business on the move.

The E71 features a business centric connectivity. The E71 includes A-GPS function, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a microSD slot where you can add in an 8 GB of storage, a 110MB of built-in memory. Although the internal memory of 110MB is a little small considering the E51 has 130MB, but a dedicated 128MB RAM and ARM 11 369 MHz processor makes the phone woks express. There’s also plenty of software to take benefit for the quite-mature S60 platform. Really designed as a business device, the E71 comes with a full complement of office, email and PIM software, including a feature to switch on the fully between business and personal accounts, complete with separate mailboxes and home screens. It has two home screens that will allow you to choose between work and leisure modes. It enables you to choose application shortcuts to suit your schedule with message notifications on or off. The fast and easy access to messaging, including business and personal mail, without the complexity is a commendable feature of the Nokia E71.

However, one thing also that is not given much consideration with the NOKIA E71 is the 3.15 megapixel camera (2048×1536 pixels). The autofocus needs to be manually toggled each time you take the shot, a press on the “t” or “4″ key is necessary. Moreover, a dedicated camera button on the side is not available too, so one needs to use the middle button to take photos and videos. Video quality is limited to its maximum output at 15fps; nevertheless, a secondary front-facing camera for video calls is available.

Just as the E61 and E61i, the E71 houses a single speaker in the upper left of the phone. The audio quality is decent and sound volume is good. MPEG4 video playback is even and 3D tone is supported.

Choosing over many phones one will consider the battery life. With NOKIA E71, there should be no concern since it is fine. The BP-4L lithium polymer is rated at 1500 mAh. Nokia estimates a talk time of 10.5 hours. That’s pretty quite good. And turning off Wi-Fi scanning, one conserves more battery life.
