This program enables users to send SMS text messages to GSM cellulars. The program sends the message over a normal dial-up modem connection directly to the cellular GSM operator.

The following GSM operators are supported: Cellnet (U.K.), Comviq (Sweden), D1 and D2 privat (Germany), Europolitan (Sweden), PTT Telecom (Netherlands), Tele Danmark (Denmark), SwissCom (Switzerland), Telefonica (Spain), and Telia (Sweden).

Messages may be sent to cellulars using other GSM operators, if they have a roaming agreement with one of the supported operators.

The unregistered copy of the program is fully functional, except that the letters A and E are transmitted as question marks. Version 1.5.2 now supports the Telenor (Norway), Mobistar, and Proximus (Belgium) networks. You can also add support for additional networks not currently supported by SMS.

SmartSMS

SmartSMS enables you to send Caller Group Graphic, Operator Logo and Ringtones to your Nokia phone.

You don´t need a cable or infrared connection. SmartSMS sends the ringtone, logo or groupgraphic as a ordinary SMS so you only need a modem and a dial-up SMSC (SMS server) that supports the UCP protocol.

Picture supported is: bmp, jpg, gif, nol and ngg.
You will find a lot of ready made logos on the net or you can make them yourself with a paintprogram like Paint Shop Pro or Windows Paint.

Ringtones are supported in the RTTTL format.
RTTTL (Ringing Tones text transfer language) is a language used for publishing ringing tones on web pages. You will find hundreds of webpages with ringtones in RTTTL format.

Download a zip file of ringtones for sending to Nokia phones. The file contains 395 rtttl-files which can be imported directly into SmartSMS.

If you want to compose your own ringtone you can use a freeware program called Nokring.

SMS spoof is a PalmOS application that allows you to send spoofed SMS messages. It uses a dialup connection to an EMI/UCP-compatible SMSC. It can be used with a modem connected to the Palm, such as an IR link to a GSM phone with a built-in modem. SMS spoof has been tested with Telenor's SMSC in Norway, but it should work with any SMSC that supports the EMI/UCP protocol, as long as no authentication is required.
