Introduction:
The Samsung F490 is a beautiful touchscreen phone with a large screen and slim body. Equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, 3G video calling, a music player, plenty of onboard memory and a fast HSDPA internet connection, it's a very stylish and well specified phone. But texters should be aware that a touchscreen phone can never match a conventional keypad for speed. The F490 has a much higher spec than the Armani too - it's directly comparable with the LG Viewty. Don't even mention the iPhone - the F490 blows the iPhone out of the water in terms of features! First up, this is a 3G phone, with a high-speed implementation of 3G called HSDPA delivering broadband internet speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. It also has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash - as usual, don't expect this to match a dedicated digital camera for quality, but as phones go it's in the top 20 of camera phones. 3G video calling is possible too. The F490 has a well featured music player capable of playing nearly any common digital format, and produces high quality audio. It's missing an FM radio though, which is a shame.Memory is generous, with 130 Mbytes of onboard memory plus a slot for adding a microSD memory card. Connectivity is good too, with USB 2.0 and Bluetooth.Physically the phone is very attractive, with its minimalist shiny black exterior. It's very slim too at just 11.8mm, making it significantly slimmer than the Viewty.Overall we like the F490, but it doesn't quite match the Viewty. The Viewty user interface just seems to have the edge, and the Viewty's camera is better too.

2.Pierto: Tried to sync my F490 with my PC so I could download/copy my contacts list from Microsoft Outlook. Everytime, I click sync, I recieve the error message along the lines of "This programm has terminated incorrectedtly ....PCsync.exe".I don't want to have to enter all my contacts by hand as that would take eons. Any help would be appreciated.
Solve:
1.Ans: If you can enter anything in the phone, just connect the USB cable, where the PC will detect a Samsung CDMA modem. install this modem and the after that press unlock., the Ultimate-Sam program will clear the locks first.
Second it will ask you to put the phone in qualcomm-mode, press *#782872#(if not working restart the phone)
press unlock again and ultimate-Sam will unfreeze and unlock your phone.
2.Ans: I've had a look into the synchronizing of the F490 with a PC and the manual only suggests that the phone can sync with Microsoft Media Player V11 to transfer music files. With this in mind I would suggest that the format that the contacts are saved as on Microsoft Outlook isn’t compatible with that of the F490.Another approach you could take to transfer your numbers, rather then entering them in manually would be to transfer them on your SIM card. If you transfer your contacts from your old phone to your SIM card you can then put your SIM into your F490 the contacts will be visible.

The Samsung F490 certainly tries to hit all the right moves to make it into more than just an iPhone lookalike. In reality, it lacks the finesse of its rival. It also lacks the flair that the F700 had in its slide-out keyboard. It seems that despite its best intentions, the F490 is mostly just dancing by itself.
