Introduction:
The best smartphones the world has to offer. After all, S60 3rd Edition is still fresher than anything Microsoft or ACCESS has to offer, the 3 megapixel camera is well above and beyond the standard fare, and the 416 x 352 display simply blows lesser QVGA screens out of the water. It makes sense, then, that while we all wait for the next-gen Nseries devices, Nokia would be looking to extend the useful shelf lives of the elder statesmen in their lineup by tweaking, bundling, and renaming. Among the devices to get a makeover is the N80, becoming the recently-released N80 Internet Edition with a slightly revised software bundle and two fantabulous color choices: black and bronze. Since the hardware is identical to the original N80, we'll concentrate on a couple of the Internet Edition's software goodies -- and don't worry, original N80 owners, most or all of it comes with yours, too, or can be downloaded free of charge. The N80 is Nokia's first UPnP-compatible phone, allowing the transfer of media files to compatible devices over Wi-Fi.

conclusion:
Nokia have now announced that the new Internet Edition firmware is available for the 'classic' N80 by using Nokia Official Software Updater, downloadable from Nokia.com.Before the Internet Edition firmware was made available on the Nokia Software Updater, end users could update the N80 to the same specification as an N80 Internet Edition by flashing the N80 with the firmware from the N80 Internet Edition [5].This required the use of several hacked Nokia servicing software applications, including the Phoenix Service Software (or Nokia Software Update with Nemesis (by changing product code)).This method is of questionable legality in some jurisdictions, and may violate the terms of the phone's warranty[citation needed]. There are reports of the occasional failure of this method due to user error or for other unknown reasons, leaving the phone in an unusable state from which only a properly-equipped service center could recover it. Due to the very amount of bug in version 4 of firmaware "non-warranty" update shoul be the only way to use this mobile phone. The Barcode Reader and Podcasting apps are two of the cooler downloads currently available. Though not terribly useful, the Barcode Reader did a decent job of reading any kind of barcode we threw at it (QR codes included) -- just set the camera to macro mode and let 'er rip. As soon as a barcode is detected, a box comes up with the detected text, allowing the user to save or discard the data. That's about all it does -- but hey, still cool, especially in areas of the world (read: not this one) where QR codes are commonplace. The Podcasting app does a good job finding, organizing, and synchronizing podcasts on a schedule of the user's choosing. Best of all, the podcasts can be updated in the background -- very handy, especially for folks stuck on EDGE or GPRS that want to pull down a 5 or 10MB 'cast. All told, our evaluation of the N80 Internet Edition is, like the hardware itself, identical to that of the original N80: it's a good phone / PDA in EDGE coverage that's made great when blanketed with UMTS and WiFi. The phone makes a great introduction to S60 for newly-minted smartphone users, while current N80 owners can keep their wallets firmly planted and start digging through the 'nets for the N80IE's added (free) goodies.
Problem:
1.pavlos:I use router USR9106 on my office and USR9108 on my home. With 9106 I have no problem to connect with N80. With 9108 I get the message Unable to connect to the connection network even if i have all ports open to N80. No problem with PC connection through Ethernet cable.
Any suggestions?

Ans 1:Try Irish Biker’s suggestion of opening:5060 to 5070 UDP (VoIP), 10000 to 20000 UDP (VOICE),
Depending on your router, you may have to set the N80 up to a static IP on your home WiFi connection, then set the router to direct traffic to the phone’s IP on port 5060.
Ans 2:it seems that your second problem is a hardware/components fault not a firmware bug.just take it to Nokia Care Centre.
OR,Ans 2 :Yes, the new version is 5.0719.0.2 it is available now (I really dreamed last night that Nokia has launched this 5th version) when I checked I was very happy because I thought it would solve all the problems I have in my last V4.0707.0.7 but unfortunately it solved only some bugs but the most important bug has not been solved and the new version has the same bug as the previous one:
1.Phone requests Time/Date when restarted – whenever switched off and back on (this is the most important bug and I want to reply to the guy who thinks that it is a hardware problem: NO it is a bug in the new firmware because I haven't had this problem before i update to V4.0707.0.7 I am deadly sure)this is still on the new version 5.0719.0.2 !!!
2.No service messages available, it show requesting then nothing (ok this was solved on the new version)
3.A cursor appears blinking at the right side of the balloon that shows caller number(this is still on the new version 5.0719.0.2 !!!)
4.Led stays blinking even after using the keypad and when calling (ok this was solved on the new version)
5.Lower video quality (ok this was solved on the new version)
I was waiting for the new Version to solve all the bugs specially the first one - but now after the new version I am thinking to throw Nokia products forever as I am not willing to wait more than that withouht the alarm colock, reminders, and more important I used to switch off my phone to get a quiet sleep since the new version I cannot sleep well, I have to leave my phone switched on to keep the clock running! but what if the battery runs out especially it lasts for less than day and all N80 users know this well and i think this bug cannot be solved.
I want to tell all the users of N80 that we are all have been screwed by Nokia - I am really disappointed and wouldn't ever think that I will use other brands than Nokia but know just to retort this to Nokia I will have to use other brand.

Wayne:I`ve been looking at upgrading to the N80 internet edition from an E65. Can anyone tell me if that would be a sensible move or not. Also, if i did, where would i find the keyboard/cradle shown in the pic? Thanks for any replies
Nazrae:Why does my N80 doesn’t come with a Yahoo! Go Mobile? Does it come preinstalled or do i have to download?
