Disassembly : Motorola V3
When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component. Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand. At the very least, you will require a Torx T5 screwdriver. Do NOT attempt to use a small Allen key or filed down screwdriver, you will only damage the screws.
DisassemblyThere are a number of broken Motorola V3s on the web and if you have a scratched housing or screen or even a borken screen you can use these as donours to repair yor own phone. Or, maybe, you just want to change the colour of your phone? If this is you, then this guide will tell you precisely how to disassemble your phone so that you can then do the repairs or modifications you need before re-assembling the phone.
Getting Started
Before you start you will need a few tools, as above. To disassemble the phone you will need two Torx screwdrivers: a T5 and a T6. You will also need a flat plastic implement to prise apart the components of the phone. Anything flat but rigid will do. I used an old SIM card here. It needs to be plastic to ensure that you don't scratch the fascias whilst taking them apart. You will also need a small flat-head screwdriver to ease some of the components apart. In addition you will need a needle or a pin to remove some of the rubber protective components. Once you've assembled all these items the next stage is to begin disassembly.
First we'll start with front and back views of the classic V3 RAZR mobile phone. I know that you'll be familiar with these views already, but I'm placing them here so that you can use them to orient yourselves when going throug the various other images on this site.
The first and simplest thing to do is to remove the battery case. Just use the flat-head screwdriver to press the button at the top of this pannel. This will reveal the battery and SIM card inside (as below)
Once the battery bay is open pop out the battery itself and then slide out the SIM card. But do not use this SIM card to perform the following procedures as they are quite violent and may damage your SIM card.
